From the debut performance in 1914 until today, many people have contributed to writing the history of the Takarazuka Revue, including the performers, the fans and the crews. This page presents the changes the theater company and its glamorous world have gone through.
1914-1922 The Takarazuka Girls Revue gave its first performance in the Paradise Theater, a converted indoor pool.
1923-1933 The theater company put on the first Revue in Japan and the Takarazuka Revue became a nationwide phenomenon.
1927: Performance of "Mon Paris," the first revue in Japan.
1934-1950 The footsteps of war approached. The Takarazuka Revue bravely staged performances during this dark era.
1951-1961 The Takarazuka Revue's popularity exploded and the company became busy entertaining in both Japan and abroad.
1955: A wireless microphone was used for the first time in Japan during a performance of "Kismet" by the Flower troupe.
1962-1981 The Takarazuka Revue staged Broadway musicals and enjoyed an unprecedented boom in popularity.
1974: First performance of "The Rose of Versailles," a representative work of the Takarazuka Revue.
1982-1994 The theater company enjoyed continued growth and opened the new Takarazuka Grand Theater.
1995-2004 The Takarazuka Revue moved on to the next stage with the formation of another troupe and the dawn of a new generation.
2005-2014 Numerous records were broken. Even after a century of theater, the Takarazuka Revue took on yet new challenges.
