Should FemiNuremberg be renamed to FemiTube?

As a response to my recent post on Facebook, ranting about how this site needs to become more popular, many women on Facebook have told me that FemiNuremberg is a terrible name because it can remind people of the horrific events relating to Nuremberg, and the name of this site is affecting its marketability.

For people who didn't know, when I started this site back in January 2022, it wasn't a video-sharing platform yet, but a blogging place for me to rant against injustices against women.

I chose FemiNuremberg as name, because I specifically wanted to show that I am inspired by the Nuremberg trials, which advocated for Jewish people. I wanted to advocate for women in a similar way, in the online world.

The women on my Facebook page, don't like FemiNuremberg as a name because they rather not be reminded of the Nuremberg trials. I am also told that FemiNuremberg is a mouthful, and that the name of the website should be shorter so that it can be easier to remember and pronounce.

I agree with the assessment of these women on Facebook. However, transitioning to a new name can have some disadvantages. It can cause this platform to lose SEO and traffic. I have to start some things all over again. It can confuse the users that have already signed up for this platform, under its old name. They won't be familiar with the new name. Some users won't even know about it, which may cause them to never come back again, especially if they have email notifications turned off.

Even if I do redirects, it won't save the log in cookies and some users come to this place, via Google, which won't index a page with a redirect.

I plan to use FemiTube, as the new name. It is basically derived from 'feminism' and 'YouTube'. It makes sense, and is easy to pronounce and remember.

Although renaming this site to FemiTube 'might' benefit this platform in the long run, it's going to have significant short term disadvantages.

Exulansic already promoted this site under 'FemiNuremberg' and not 'FemiTube'. The users that signed up and came here from her, know this platform under its current name. So do the users that I have personally encouraged to join.
