Are video games inherently patriarchal?

I guess this is a post to sort of trash myself since I play video games, not as often as when I was younger, but I still find time to play them when I can. If we're going to get the obvious out of the way, most objectives in video games revolve around killing people(mostly innocent people). GTA V is one of the best selling games in history, I've never been into these games because I think it is wrong to kill civilians, even if they're fictional, still feels wrong killing innocent women and men in a city for no reason. I do play a game similar called Just Cause, at least in that open world you're mostly killing militia guards of fascist nations, but it is still a violent game.

My mother did let me play video games, but I wasn't allowed to play anything M rated until I was 14, I would get grounded if I was caught playing anything to gratuitous.

We all know women enjoy gaming too, sadly there is some discrimination at competitions or on Twitch streams when women play games; men claiming women are terrible at them or shouldn't be playing them, both positions are illogical and should never been an argument.


