Senator Lois Kolkhorst allegedly trying to prevent Asians from owning land in Texas

This republican senator, recently came up with Bill 147, which is said to prevent people from Russia, Iran, North Korea, and especially China from buying property in Texas. Greg Abbott supports this bill. This is to prevent 'foreign influence' in Texas.

Of course, this drew a lot of backlash from the Asian community, since most East Asians are Chinese. They are calling this bill racist.

I'm not sure whether this bill is trying to prevent anyone who is of Chinese descent or country of origin from purchasing property in Texas OR if it's just trying to prevent foreign non-US-citizen Chinese people from doing that, but Chinese US citizens will still be able to buy land. If it's the former, then this bill is definitely racist. If it's the latter, I don't see much of a problem with it, to be honest.

I don't think it's racist to prevent non-US-citizens or foreigners from tyrannical communist countries or fascist countries from buying property in America, just as long as every American CITIZEN has the same rights, regardless of race or country of origin.

However, I do not know the intentions of Lois Kolkhorst and the people on her side. We'll have to wait for all of the information to come out.


