Someone explain political lesbianism to me.

I want to understand why political lesbianism is even a thing. I've made it clear in past threads I support lesbians, but I do not support forced homosexuality on women. I see no evidence that all women are gay and heterosexuality is compulsory. I've never encountered political lesbians because I have never been involved in any form of activism; however, I have been to lesbian bars. My gay friend would take me there for drinks when we were in college, it was the nearest bar in San Fransisco at that time (closed 10 years ago)

I had my friend protecting me, so there are no stories here about me getting successfully hit on. I did get angry at one woman who made here way over to me, obviously drunk off her ass trying to convince me to leave my husband (my first husband, misogynistic shit head) and go to her place. I would of course keep saying no, would keep her talking until my friend returned from the restroom and got her away from me. I had sober women explain to me that heterosexuality is compulsory; this was back in 2004 before the internet really took off, I didn't even know some feminists were talking like this.

I will say this one nice thing about lesbians, more loyalty than any gay man I've ever met. Lesbians in my opinion are very monogamous, they rarely engage in polyamory and get defensive when someone scoops up their partners. I have seen a fight break out at the bar only one time, of course it was women fighting over access to more women.

I'm not sure how much patriarchy has influenced lesbian culture. I know we're human and we have urges to have sex, but women in my opinion have more restraint and control over their feelings; something men are almost incapable of doing.


